Extensible Metadata Platform: More than Just Metadata

Jeremias Märki, Software Development and Consulting

Abstract

The Extensible Metadata Platform (XMP) is an ISO standard for the storage and representation of document metadata which is used in PDF files, for example. Metadata helps to categorize, associate and find documents. Unfortunately, the preservation of metadata is often neglected. Metadata helps the recipient of documents in particular. In the course of this presentation Jeremias Märki will look at what metadata is, why it is so important for electronic documents and how we transmit it using XMP. Furthermore, the speaker will make the connection to the topic of input management. Examples from real life will help with the big picture.
